Key Stage 3
Year 7
During Year 7 pupils are encouraged to explore differences
between belief, fact and opinion. They draw from their own
experiences and begin to understand the views of others.

Heros and Racism
Year 8
During Year 8 pupils develop their understanding of world faiths
and investigate worship, how religion inspires people and
explores how religion influences people in the way they treat
others.
Term 1 poverty/charity, Term 2 Buddhism, Term 3 Crime
Year 9
During Year 9 pupils explore the relationships between science
and religion, they also reflect on the implications of the big
bang and evolution.
Year 9 draws on a philosophical approach to underpin the skills
needed in KS4
Term 1 Pilgrimage, Term 2 Disasters and Suffering, Term3
Rastafarians
Key Stage 4
In Year 10, all students will complete the AQA Short Course GCSE
in Religious Studies (Syllabus A).
From a range of options, we study Unit 2 - Christianity and
Ethics
This includes:
Religion and relationships
Religion, sport and leisure
Religion and work
Religion and the multicultural society
Religion and identity
Religion and human rights
There is one written examination paper of 1 hour and 30 minutes
duration. It is divided into two sections. Section A is worth
66.6% and Section B is worth 33.3%.
Section A contains 4 compulsory short-answer stimulus-response
questions
Section B contains 2 extended response questions from which
students choose and answer one question.
There is no coursework requirement.
