Key Stage 4

BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care

Course Content

The First three units we study are:-

Unit 1 Communication and Individual Rights within the Health and Social Care Sectors
Unit 2 Individual Needs within the Health and Social Care Sectors
Unit 3 Vocational Experience in a Health and Social Care Setting (Placement)

Once these units are complete students will achieve the BTEC First Certificate Award

If students successfully complete the following three units they will achieve the First Diploma

Unit 4 Cultural Diversity in Health and Social Care
Unit 5 Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
Unit 6 Human Lifespan Development

All Units have an assignment brief and students will produce a portfolio for each unit.

This course is continuous assessment - there is no final examination.

There will be also be an opportunity for students to complete a Basic Food Hygiene course and also a Basic First Aid Course.

This course is equivalent to four GCSE’s
