Graphic Products GCSE (AQA)

Course Content

Year 10 work on a range of small design projects to develop the necessary skills and knowledge for their main design project required by the exam board in Year 11. They will design and make a range of graphic products. In the past these projects have included promotional goods for a film, package design, logo design for a tourist attraction, 3d Prototype modelling of a mobile phone or music device.

During the Summer Term of Year 10 the students will select a suitable topic for the main GCSE design project. The design briefs are set by the exam board, students are able to choose one from the list provided.

Software provided for the students to work at home:-

Prodesktop and 2D design

Unit 1 - Written Paper
Taken in June of Year 11

2 hours - 120 marks - 40% of overall grade
Students will answer all questions
Pre-release materials will be issued

Unit 2 - Coursework task
Completed in Year 11

Approximately 45 hours
90 marks - 60% of overall grade
Coursework folio consisting of approximately
20 sheets of A3 design work, plus a 3D outcome
