The English
curriculum at Key Sage 3 follows the QCA
National Framework. Students are set according
to their ability. In each year, pupils work on 5
broad units of work which offer opportunities
for developing a range of skills that are
transferable across the whole school curriculum.
Teacher
assessment is ongoing throughout the units of
study and culminates in formal tests for both
reading and writing.
During the early
part of the summer term, Key Stage 3 students in
Year 9 will sit their National Key Stage 3 SATs.
The tests, in English, comprise of 3 separate
papers aimed at levels 4 – 7.
