Key Stage 3
The new streamlined National Curriculum for English pinpoints
key skills that students need to develop in order to become
effective learners.
Each unit in the Key Stage 3 curriculum focuses on Key Processes
from the new National Curriculum. These processes are delivered
through the explicit teaching of the Assessment focuses which
are then assessed every four weeks in Controlled Assessments.
In addition, curriculum focuses like creativity, cultural
diversity and real-world skills are built into the activities
and choice of text.
Each year, pupils will study a variety of texts including,
Shakespeare, a novel and a topic based non-fiction unit.
Lessons are taught through a variety of ways including
opportunities for pupils to use their netbooks to access online
resources on the VLE.
